Implementation in the College
Program Development activities are an important aspect of GMU’s CAPH services. Not only do the resources assist with others’ initiatives, but professionals at GMU’s CAPH also prepare approaches for direct implementation. This applied approach brings to action the philosophies espoused by GMU’s CAPH. Noteworthy within this segment are resources found with COMPASS, focused on healthy living. In a parallel manner are the variety of alcohol abuse prevention strategies found with the Promising Practices: Campus Alcohol Strategies project.
Best of Choices Booklet
This resource compiles findings from ten years of CHOICES grantees of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Insights from these campus-based efforts to reduce alcohol abuse are organized within topical areas, including Campaigns, Collaboration, Educational Programs, Evaluation, Events, Policy and Training. This includes case studies, conclusions and recommendations; it is complemented by the resources, searchable database, and video review. Best of CHOICES Resources: The range of materials and strategies implemented by CHOICES grantees are incorporated with the PDF versions of posters, brochures, fliers, and other products and resources prepared with the campus wide projects. These are organized within the major thematic clusters found with the Best of CHOICES Booklet.
Promising Practices Sourcebook
This resource incorporates results of three national solicitation and review processes designed to identify the best practices to address alcohol abuse on the nation’s college campuses. Organized within sections that comprise a comprehensive campus-based initiative, abstracts summarize approaches, key elements, and evidence of success.
Virginia Alcohol Abuse Prevention Standards
This document provides a framework for orchestrating comprehensive strategies to address drug and alcohol concerns. These standards represent a compilation of standards, guidelines and recommendations from 23 national, state and research sources. Specific standards are organized within 14 distinct focus areas, providing practical strategies and rationale.

Designed to motivate and inspire students to make healthy choices, COMPASS addressses 31 topics helpful for success as a college student. Each topoic has a short essay, a "Looking Back" and "Moving Ahead" worksheet, and campus, local and national resources.

COMPASS Workbook
As a positive approach, COMPASS is designed to help individuals both take stock of where they are with respect to a topic, and then make plans for the future with that topic. This workbook provides single-page worksheets for each topic, and is organized around the seven life health themes. The worksheets can be used for self-reflection, course assignments, or workshop materials.

The Alcohol Summit
A Roadmap for Fraternities and Sororities: This resource describes a successful strategy used on 18 campuses and orchestrated by the North American Interfraternity Conference.
